It is an interagency venture supported by a number of organisations
and agencies: City of Dublin Youth Service Board (CDYSB), National
Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), Irish Youth Foundation (IYF),
NUI Maynooth, the Youth Affairs Section of the Department of Education

Rights
& Entitlements of Young People: A Pocket Guide for Youth Workers
This
pocket guide has been produced by Youth Work Ireland and funded
by Comhairle and is aimed specifically at those who work with young
people. It aims to provide a reasonably comprehensive overview of
the rights and entitlements of young people in Ireland today from
the general rights and entitlements such as the UN Convention of
the Rights of the Child, to specific issued based rights of young
people from minority groups.
This publication will be a tool for youth workers to equip them
with the information required to both inform young people of their
rights when situations arise and advocate on their behalf on rights
based issues.
A
Handy Guide to the Youth Work Act & National Development Plan
This
publication The implementation of the Youth Work Act 2001 and the
National Youth Work Development Plan are perhaps the most significant
developments in youth work provision in Ireland for some time. Both
have been developed with the aim of assisting Youth Service Agencies
and VECs to be able to work in partnership to ensure the highest
and most comprehensive quality of service is delivered to young
people.
While
the Youth Work Act and the National Youth Work Development Plan
are clear and comprehensive this publication will be useful in providing
a concise and abbreviated version for easy reference. It is likely
that many youth workers and VEC staff will appreciate this accessible
publication in their day-to-day work.
There
are four main sections to this guide
1. A summary of the National Youth Work Development Plan
2. A summary of the Youth Work Act 2001
3. Notes on establishing Voluntary Youth Councils
4. Notes on designation of Local Voluntary Youth Work Organisations

Safe
Surfting
The use of the Internet by children and
young people is an emotive issue, which has generated much debate
in recent times. The increasing media reporting and publicity surrounding
the potential exploitation by young people of paedophiles and child
abusers, those promoting racial hatred and exposure to pornographic
and other inappropriate materials, has made parents and those who
work with young people fearful of allowing young people access to
Internet.
These Guidelines are a tool for youth workers and aim to ensure
that young people use the Internet in a safe and responsible mannerd.
Sections Include: Guildelines; Sample Documents & Templates
and Appendices.
There's
Something To Do
This resource is a thematic arts based activity pack for youth workers.
It was produced in response to to requestes from youth workers for
more arts based activities. The sections include arts activities
for Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Christmas and
Issued Based Work. The materials required for the craft sections
can be gathered from the home or bought quite easily with the exception
of a few requiring a specialist craft shop.
Cost: €18.00
